Professor Shafi Ahmed was asked to deliver this course in Dhaka Bangladesh, in December 2023 on behalf of ICESCO, (The Islamic World Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation) and the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Medical University (BSMMU). This was the first such course held in Bangladesh and supports the vision of the government for a smart and digital Bangladesh.

About the D.I.E.T course
We are excited to launch the Post Graduate Qualification in Digital Health, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology in collaboration with Health Care Skills International, GIANT Health and Doctorpreneurs

Healthcare is undergoing digital transformation and exponential technologies are fundamentally changing the way we deliver services.
Patient centric care is now predictive, preventive, personalized and participative to drive better outcomes and experience.
The future health care worker needs to equip themselves with the knowledge and understanding of digital innovation, techologies and entrepreneurship.

This innovative and disruptive course has been delivered since 2016 when Professor Shafi Ahmed introduced the Barts X course to Barts Medical School for all 3rd year undergraduates and embedded this into the undergraduate curriculum.
He realised that the current curriculum was desperately in need of modernisation and launched this programme as a radical departure to conventional medical training. The course was the first of its kind in the UK and one of the very few in the world.
This course has since been delivered to Imperial college intercalated medical students.
It has now been modified and delivered globally to MBA students from all disciplines from medicine to pharma and from medtech to investors.
The course will be taught by a world class faculty of innovators, entrepreneurs and thought leaders in digital health and transformation and has a two-day face to face element in a state-of-the-art centre in Central London.
Who is it aimed for?
The course is aimed to all who want to improve the way health is delivered, to understand digital health and wants to learn how to take an idea to market.
What will you learn?
You will learn how to understand the concepts of disruptive innovation in healthcare and how to scale an idea. You will be taught business design and strategy and how to be able to pitch your idea confidently to a dragon’s den. You will learn about all of the exponential technologies driving the future of healthcare including artificial intelligence. You will understand the challenges facing global health systems.
